Downtown Las Vegas MapDowntown Las Vegas is compact enough that you can easily walk from one end to the other. This ease of travel makes Downtown Las Vegas ideal for gamblers who like to hop from one casino to another, looking for bargains or a change of luck. Sports bettors can benefit from the different betting lines that are available on the same sporting events. At night the Fremont Street Experience is in full action, with an incredible light and music show. Even if you aren't staying downtown the show at night is worth a trip. Staying Safe DowntownDowntown Las Vegas is pretty safe, but the areas just a block or two away are less safe than the casino areas. Stick to Fremont Street and the side streets where the casinos or busy shops are located, especially at night, and the worst thing you are likely to see is a few panhandlers. And don't walk from downtown to the Las Vegas Strip, it's a long walk through neighborhoods that are less than stellar. UpdateThe Lady Luck Hotel Casino is currently undergoing major renovations and will be closed for the foreseeable future. the Plaza Hotel has closed its rooms for the foreseeable future, but is still open for gaming.
